I was born Judith Ann Wiederanders in 1945. Raised in California, I received a BA in Sociology from Pomona College, served as a Peace Corps volunteer in a mining camp in Bolivia, and later earned an MBA from Stanford. I have two children and two stepchildren.

I have always been drawn to creative endeavors. My art career emerged in fits and starts: I started college as an art major; attended art school after college; painted as a young mother; and worked as a graphic designer before entering the corporate world. At Marriott Corporation I worked my way up to VP Marketing, Fairfield Inns.

After a five-year stint there, I left and began to paint seriously in 1988. I also began to attend to my “inner life,” exploring family dynamics, eastern philosophies, shamanism, and contemplative practices.

I have studied art at the Chouinard Art Institute (Los Angeles), the Academy of Art (San Francisco), and the Corcoran School of Art (Washington, DC). I mentored girls in the arts and taught classes at the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum in Santa Fe, NM. My paintings and drawings have been exhibited in group, juried, and solo shows.

After finding a journal my great-great-grandmother wrote between 1843 and 1868, I became fascinated with my ancestors’ stories. I have researched their lives in this country and in Germany, and am writing down their history.

I presently devote much of my time to doing and facilitating The Work of Byron Katie. In addition to presenting workshops and working with private clients, I offer telecourses through The Institute for The Work.
